Land Acknowledgement
I am deeply in love with this land. Tkaronto/Toronto is a love of my life. I am here as a guest and will nurture and tend this land when I can and am welcomed to. It is currently home to many Indigenous Peoples and settlers. I am aware of and hold with remorse the treaties of the Toronto Purchase of 1787, Treaty 13 signed in 1805 by the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations, and the Williams Treaty signed in 1923 by the Chippewa and Mississaugas bands.
I want to acknowledge the current treaty holders as well as the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to peaceably share and care for the Great Lakes region between the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat Nations.
